Construction of the Egnatia freeway as part of the Trans-European Interstate System, Greece
687 km of roads, over-and underpasses, bridges and tunnels will soon link Greece from Igoumenitsa in the West via Thessaloniki, along the Aegean coast to Alexandroupoli with Kipi at the Turkish border in the East. The overall project is scheduled for completion in September 2007.
DSI supplied DSI Hollow Bars, Temporary Bar Anchors 32 mm dia.and 2 strand DSI Rock Anchors for various construction projects as follows:
Anilio Tunnel The Anilio Tunnel will connect the Mestovo tunnel with Egnatia Road. Since the entrance of the tunnel is located in an active landslide area, extensive reinforcement was required. For this project DSI supplied 2,700 m of 9 m long DSI Hollow Bars to stabilize the ground and prevent land slides.
Leykopetra-Veria-Kouloura As a result of its previous good experience with DSI and its products, the contractor decided to once again use DSI Systems for the planned slope stabilization work. DSI has already installed 4,200 m of 32 mm dia. grade 950/1050WR Temporary DSI Bar Anchors. Another 3,120 m of DSI Bar Anchors will be installed in 2002.
Driskos-Tunnel The Driskos Tunnel JV had successfully used DSI Hollow Bars for slope stabilization in 2001. Based on the excellent results achieved, the JV chose to stabilize the area between the tunnels using 900 m of DSI Hollow Bars and 4,946 m of two strands 0,6", grade 1570/1770 Temporary DSI Strand Anchors.
