Appointment of new CEO and new structure for DSI Underground Canada Ltd.
01 January 2018
DSI Underground is pleased to announce the appointment of Gavin Fairburn as Chief Executive Officer of DSI Underground Canada Ltd. in June 2018. Mr. Fairburn is a seasoned leader and has been instrumental in navigating DSI Underground through its organizational change: the DSI Underground Americas region was divided into two regions and one business unit – DSI Underground Canada, DSI Underground LATAM and DSI’s US tunneling division located in Louisville, following the closure of the Salt Lake City office, U.S.A.
“Gavin has been instrumental to DSI Underground’s growth and success in Canada over the past years. I am very pleased that he has accepted the role as CEO of DSIU Canada. I am looking forward to working with Gavin and his team towards a long-term successful future of DSIU in Canada,” said Michael Reich, CEO DSI Underground.
These changes are designed to reduce structural costs and drive the sales and profit growth of the two regions in coming years. The new structure is already promoting the exchange of experience within DSIU’s companies worldwide for the benefit of its customers. For example, this year DSIU was able to provide its Canadian customers with the opportunity to test the new advanced anchor systems.
Another key area of focus is the IT networking between DSIU and its customers. DSIU is creating a completely networked factory - the smart factory, which increases the quality of its products and systems, while optimizing the supply chain through close connections to its customers' ERP systems.
DSIU’s strategic goal is to actively shape these change processes together with its customers in order to drive safety and efficiency in mining.
